May 2-6

This week will be a review of comprehension skills. We will read A Bad Case of Stripes to review cause and effect and character traits. We will read I Am Jackie Robinson and The Magic School Bus Plays Ball to practice fact and opinion. We will read The Luckiest One to review inferring and drawing
Conclusions. We will read Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus to practice sequencing. All the books will be used to practice author's purpose! 

Our phonics skill will be the -tion, -ture endings. We will not have a spelling test, but please help your child learn to read and spell the words on the newsletter. This will help them become 3rd grade ready!

Constitution Village

We had a great day touring the Alabama Constitution Village Friday! The kiddos were really engaged the whole time and learned so much! This was a great educational field trip:)

Fun Friday!

We are joining together with Ms. Spears class and working each day to earn a star towards Fun Friday! Today we had Board Game Friday. Look at these smiling faces having fun! 





And to make Fun Friday better, we had such good behavior in our lunch line- The kiddos got a compliment and earned a star for next week!

March 28- April 1

This week is going to be a crazy week!
1. We are returning from Spring Break.
2. We have a field trip.
3. Friday is a Half-Day for students.

Welcome Back!

We will begin a new math chapter this week... Money and Time! Parents, you can help out at home by asking your child to read the time, tell whether it is AM or PM, and count change & dollar bills. 
In reading, we will move on to a new set of skills, but we won't test on them until the next week. With so much going on this week, I don't feel that the students will be 100% ready for the tests. They will have a Spelling Pre-Test on Friday, though.

Our reading comprehension skills this week are Plot and Theme. These skills have already been introduced so this should be a review for the students.
Plot- The beginning, middle, and end of the story.
Theme- The "big idea", what the author wants the reader to learn from the story.

Animals, Shamrocks, and a Parade!
