This Week in Our Class...

First of all, let me say... HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK! I am so thankful for the wonderful friends I work with and I want to wish them the best this week~ I have some of the sweetest kids! Some of them brought me gifts for this week AND I have GREAT parents that help and make our classroom a wonderful place:) I have a parent who is going to give me one of the greatest gifts a teacher could ever ask for... DUTY-FREE lunch!! She is going to take my kiddos to lunch so I can eat in my quiet room!
Here are some of the gifts my students got me...

This week we are continuing to combine two stories and the skills that go with them:) We are reading Alexander Graham Bell and Ben Franklin and His First Kite. We are finishing up Chapter 12 in Math and taking our End of the Year Math Test (Wow!!! The end of the year is approaching fast!!) We have some changes to pay attention to... May 16 is now our Field Day. We will NOT have snowcones :( This makes me very sad... but hopefully we will some other cool treat for the kiddos! May 23 is our End of they Year Party! The time has changed to 9:30:)

We have been busy getting ready for Summer! We made a SUPER cute sunshine craft:) The students did a great job and had a blast cutting and tracing and gluing!

We have also been busy creating a Mother's Day card since Mother's Day is Sunday. Here are my students working hard! We are working on an idea I took from Pinterest:)

This Week In our Class...

We have had a busy week! We have been DIBELed, read 2 stories, learned 4 new reading skills, AND added some fun behavior activities into our afternoon schedule!!! The students have had the best time this week! Our balloons have had us take a nature walk, get an extra free play, get M & Ms throughout the day, a Day without Homework, AND to top it off on Friday, we get to have a READ-A-THON!!! The kids are so excited. They are allowed to bring a towel and a small stuffed animal. After lunch, we will lay around the room and READ,READ,READ:) When we popped this balloon, the students were so happy. It really melts my heart that these kids have such a great love of Reading!

This Week in Our Class....

Happy Monday! This week in our class we are combining two stories. We will be studying the reading skills for Dot and Jabber and Simple Machines. We will discuss the -oo in book and the -oi/-oy in boy and oil. We will not have a comprehension test or spelling test Friday. However, we will have a phonics test. It is important to read and practice these words/skills each night so your child can become a better reader!!! We are still studying 2-D shapes in math and will move onto Fractions very soon!

We have DIBELS coming up this Thursday. Please be sure that your child gets enough sleep and eats a great breakfast! Please continue to work with your child each night. Have your child continue to read the fluency packet I sent home last week:)

Our Courage Carnival went really well! Thank you for letting your children take part in this wonderful day!

Our Field Day has been changed to May 16th. AES will be busy giving the ARMT during our original "Field Day" date, so we had to find a better day:)

Our year is quickly coming to an end! HOWEVER... we still have 4 weeks left. Please remind your students to be on their best behavior. We will be very busy and will need to get lots done and completed before our last day.

We are starting a fun behavior reward for the countdown until summer. Each afternoon we will pop a balloon that will tell us what "Extra" we will be rewarded with for the next day! I am so excited and I believe the students are too! We will start this countdown reward activity by having an extra "recess time". Just a few minutes in the afternoon to run around outside our door!

Here are some pictures from my time spent in the Dunk Tank! It was FREEZING at 8:00 in the morning, but the kids had a blast and that is what matters:)
