Liberty's Legacy, Jump Rope for Heart, and An Igloo

We had a lot going on this week. We had a fire drill--- which the kiddos rocked, our Liberty's Legacy Kickoff, and our Jump Rope for Heart kickoff. We studied igloos and how to build them. The kiddos researched the igloo-building process and began building a milk-jug igloo! They have been bringing gallon milk jugs in for a few weeks but are finding that MANY more are needed. There is a lot of math, science, and engeneering that is going into this project. We can't wait until we can see the finished product!

Presidential Inauguration and Birds of Prey

We had a very educational day! We began the festivities by watching the Presidential Inauguration. It was history in the making and the kiddos were able to be a part of it. We watched President Trump and Vice President Pence get sworn in. We heard President Trump give his inaugural speech. We even watched the President and Vice President escort the former President and former Vice President to their departing transportations. We learned about MLK, Jr. and his speeches this week. It was great for the kiddos to hear a speech, live, to make connections with.

We also had visitors from the Guntersville State Park. The students learned about a Barred Owl, a Great-Horned Owl, a Red-Tailed Hawk, and a Bald Eagle. The Bald Eagle was a young eagle (around 3 years old) and had yet to get her white tail feathers and white head feathers.

It was so fitting to learn about and see our national bird in person on the nation's inauguration day! An American symbol to honor democracy in action!

It's January and it feels like Spring😍

Hi all! Did anyone step outside these
past two days and feel how AMAZING the weather is?!? It definitely doesn't feel like January or that this time last week it was cold enough to ❄️🌨SNOW🌨❄️. But I'll take it. I ❤️ this weather. It is my weather! Hopefully it will stick around a while!

Anyway... I hope everyone had a great first {full} week back to school. I am way behind in posting on the blog. So, here are some pictures of today's festivities! We had the AR/Math walk of fame this afternoon. Two of our kiddos made it in the walk of fame for compeleting all addition and subtraction facts on Math Facts in a Flash! Way to go Cris and Evan!

Veteran's Day!

We were out of school on Friday, November 11 in honor of the many veterans who have served to protect our freedom. We would like to thank all the veterans who sacrifice(d) time with their families, risk(ed) their lives, and work(ed) so hard to protect our freedom in this great country. THANK YOU!

Superhero Day and Pumpkin Carving

We celebrated the last week of October by carving pumpkins! The kiddos LOVED digging into the pumpkin, pulling out the insides and sorting the seeds. They sorted the seeds into groups of 10, then again in to groups of 100, to figure out how many seeds were in 3 pumpkins. The students counted over 1600 seeds! We also finished our Red Ribbon Week celebration with trick-or-treating and Superhero costumes!
