Day 3!

Okay... So, those who know me, know how OCD I am. I love for everything to be in it's place and in a certain order. If I don't have things done in a certain way, I will worry and fret over it until I change it or fix it!! It's crazy, I know! BUT I have a room mom who is the same way and I LOVE IT!!!! We had asked the students to buy 3 spiral notebooks and 3 folders. They were were all asked to bring the same colors. However, as many of you know, that is an almost impossible task when you have so many students trying to buy the same things!!!! SO, yesterday, my room mom bought the 9 (yes 9!!!) red spiral notebooks so my math journals would all be the same color. She also sorted my folders so the kiddos' unfinished work folders would all be the same color (family). Today, I got down to sorting the rest of the supplies. So many glue sticks, erasers, and pencils!
This is what my table looked like in the beginning... SO MESSY. Too much for me:) So, I gave my students something to work on and got down to business. I sorted and organized and finally got it all off the table:)
I also hung up my students work in the hall and in the room. We talked about a monster coming to school and how he disrupted the teacher and classroom. He also broke rules (like a monster;). We did an anchor chart where the students gave examples of what makes a monster. When we made this list, we discussed ways to change those behaviors. We then made a monster glyph...
Once we finished our monster chart and glyphs, we talked about how to become a Peacemaker. We read David Goes to School and talked about how David was not a peacemaker. He was more like the monster that came to school. We made another anchor chart listing how to become a peacemaker! Then, because we have to have a cute activity, we made our own David...

This was all this morning... before lunch! And just so you know, our lunch is at 10:25 (more like brunch...Hehe). The afternoon was a long one and I was in need of some caffeine by 1:00. My wonderful besties came through and BOY, do I owe them BIG! My bestie across the hall had coffee and my bestie down in 1st Grade had White Chocolate Caramel Latte Creamer! Can you say DELISH?!?! It made my afternoon:) So, to repay them, I went to the store after school and bought some new creamer and peanut butter crackers (you gotta have those) to replenish our stock!
I am looking forward to tomorrow;) That Hershey's Chocolate Caramel is calling my name!

First Days of School!

We have hit the ground running! I was sort of nervous about my first day of 2nd grade...BUT, it was awesome:) It is amazing how much different and more prepared 2nd graders are on the first day of school. I was prepared to spend a WHOLE lot of time talking about rules and procedures and having to show my students where things go and where different places are. They did such a great job of catching on! I am so proud of my 2nd graders. Of course, I am also loving being able to see my first grade babies from last year each morning when they walk down the hall. I am a "hugger" and I love that I get hugs from my 2nd grade kiddos AND my 1st grade kiddos:) Nothing makes a morning or an afternoon like a hug! Now... because Monday was the first day of 2nd grade for not only my kiddos but me too, I had my picture taken in front of our "First Day of 2nd Grade" board!! Hahahaha! Laugh it up, it is really funny! I couldn't help myself. I wanted it to be a day to remember!

We have had such a great first 2 days! I am really excited about what the year holds!!

Back to School!

Here we go!!! Time to get back into the swing of things:) I have had a great summer but after our Meet and Greet and Orientation, I am ready for school to start back!!! Of course I loved my "sleepy" days during the summer, but after the last 2 days of feeling like fall, I am ready to get my fall routine down. AND with fall comes BAMA football!!! YAY:) The first game is in 2 weeks and I am pumped! Roll Tide Roll!! I can't believe it!
This past week has been CRAZY busy. I spent the week getting my room finished and organized for Meet and Greet and Orientation. Wednesday, I took a break and went to a Braves game. GO BRAVES:)
We sat on the 3rd row on the Braves side:) We were right behind 3rd base! Hey Freddie Freeman:) He is my favorite BRAVE right now!!

Brandon Beachy: Pitcher/Freddie Freeman: 1st Baseman
Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward!!

I am a little obsessed with the Braves. This is all my husbands fault! He is a baseball fanatic too:) Here we are a little earlier in the summer at another Braves game...

After Thursday's Meet and Greet, I was pumped about the school year! I met 12 of my kiddos and they were all so very sweet! Here is my Bestie across the hall and me before the Meet and Greet began...

Ready to meet our Kiddos!!

Next week is going to be exhausting but exciting at the same time! I am ready to start my journey as a 2nd grade teacher:) I pray that my students learn everything they need in order to be successful, feel safe and comfortable in their classroom this year, and that they know they are loved and cherished. I also pray that my fellow teachers have an all around GREAT year and that they know how important they are to APS and to the students in their classrooms! I know we are going to have an A-W-E-S-O-M-E year! Here we go!
