Friday Funday!

We had a Friday full of fun activities! The kiddos continued their Penguin research, this time using the iPads for a QR Code web quest! The students graphed skittles and of course, ate them! They also created graphs using the survey data collected earlier in the week.

The students used Post-it notes to create a "can-are-have-need" poster.

Graphing Galore!

We had so much fun creating a bar graph using Froot Loops! The kiddos found the graph we started with wasn't big enough so we made our own.

Jan.19-23

This week the students got a day off on Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful day off:) Beginning Tuesday, we will start our Unit 3 review and Penguin unit! This will be a fun week. I love teaching about penguins and the students usually love learning about them! We will be finding facts around the room, reading about Tacky the Penguin, using the iPads for penguin research, and much more!!

We will continue our data and graphing lessons in math. We will survey other classrooms and create different types of graphs using that data. I can't wait for this week and all the fun we will have!

I will be working on setting up an Instagram and Facebook page for our classroom. I will begin posting different information for the classroom & school and activities we will be doing! Please be one the lookout for more information and invites:)

Here are some pictures from what we did last week during Unit! The students worked together to read and find facts about MLK Jr. The students were so eager to tell me what they learned!

The students loved reading and working together!

Jan. 12-16

This week in reading we are learning about Facts and Opinions! Facts are pieces of information that can be proven true or false by reading or asking experts. Opinions are statements of feelings, or what you think!
We are also learning about comparing objects using the -er/-est endings. Remember: when you add an ending to a word with y, you change the y to i then add the ending. If you add an ending to a word that is VC, you double the final consonant and then add the ending:)
We are studying biographies in writing. We are learning about George Washington Carver and Martin Luther King, Jr. We will be writing mini-biographies for both.
In math, we moved on to Chapter 10! We are learning about collecting data and putting it in charts and graphs. This is a fun chapter and I hope your children love learning all there is to know about graphs and charts:)
