Libby comes to Visit!

Today we had the great Liberty Legacy Kick-off! Lady Liberty (Libby) came to visit and explained to the kiddos who she was and what she was visiting for! She came to kick-off our 2nd grade Super Citizen Unit. We will be learning about Great Americans, Super Citizen traits, important symbols for our country and much more. Here are some pictures from our program!

A little singing and dancing!

Sticky-note Opinion Writing

We started our opinion writing Monday. We started our lesson by writing a piece together. Then they used the same topic and a graphic organizer to create their own opinion paper. Today we used sticky-notes to colorcode the parts needed in our opinion papers. The kiddos had to pick whether they liked Christmas or Halloween best and then give 3 supporting reasons for their opinions. The sticky-notes helped get their thoughts in order and organize their rough draft. Tomorrow, we will create our final draft!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Did you want the groundhog to see his shadow or not? I didn't! I was hoping to have Spring arrive early! The students got to vote on their prediction for Punxsutawney Phil! Most of the kids wanted him to see his shadow; they wsnt snow. They also completed a writing for why they did or did not want Phil to see his shadow.
