Wampanoags, Pilgrims, Tee Pees, & Pumpkin bread with homemade butter!

This past week was such an exciting week! We spent all day Monday learning about the Wampanoag Native American Tribe. Tuesday we had the iPads, learned how to use an electronic thesaurus, wrote a turkey poem, and continues our study on the Wampanoags. Wednesday, we learned about the Pilgrims. We read and did collaborative work. We wrote about our life as a Pilgrim and read lots of Thanksgiving stories. Thursday, we made our Thankful Turkeys amd wrote about what we were most thankful for. Friday, we had a BLAST! We learned about the First Thanksgiving, wrote about who came, what was eaten, and why Thanksgiving was celebrated. Then, we had a STEM challenge- the students had to build a tee pee (in groups). The challenge was this: they only had a certain amount of paper and tape. They had to think about how the tee pee would stand and how to make it large enough for one student to sit. They tried hard! We also measured and cook homemade Pumpkin bread in the crock-pot! For the pumpkin bread, we also made homemade butter. It was delicious!
Most of our friends liked the pumpkin bread and butter, but we had a few who didn't. It was a great week! Now onto Christmas Around the World!
